ACR Malta:

  • Provides information to citizens regarding products, services and methods of production,
    which may be supplied both by the private and public sector as well as regarding
    decisions taken and criteria adopted by the respective authorities at national, European
    and global level.
  • Assists consumers in seeking adequate redress and compensation resulting from the
    purchase of goods and services.
  • Represents consumers in the preparation, formulation and implementation of relevant
    policies in order to safeguard their interests, such as regarding the provision of product
    safety, adequate standards and the protection of the environment.
  • Acts as a pressure group and sees that legislation beneficial to consumers is enacted and
    relevant measures are implemented in an active and effective manner.
  • Monitors market practices with the aim of bringing them to the attention of the relevant
    authorities with the aim of curbing any unfair commercial practice.
  • Provides recommendations to the Authorities regarding standards regulating advertising.

ACR Malta regularly receives a number of queries and complaints on various products and
services by phone or email. As a first step, ACR Malta advises and encourages consumers to
contact the seller to try to reach an amicable agreement. Very often it works, and if not,
further action is advised, sometimes through MCCAA.
